The Halloween Lecture Series, Andrew May
1:00pm Room 314C

Composer Andrew May views the score as a blueprint for a living relationship between composers and performers, the terms of which are constantly evolving. Also a violinist, improviser, and computer musician, May delights in blurring the distinctions between the various categories of musician (performer, improviser, technician, composer). Toward this end, several of his works make use of innovative notations and interactive computer systems which give more responsibility and authority to the performers. A Majority of May's compositions grow out of intensive collaborations with other musicians.
